NOTAN

Today’s project is the exploration of space and composition. We will be creating an artwork called, “Notan.” In Japan, notan depicts the concept of the balance of light and dark. This project is perfect for adults and children (above first grade)!

Get creative by cutting out a variety of shapes with colored paper and securing them to a larger background. You will need colored paper cut into a square (origami paper is already square, but you can also cut regular construction paper!), paper for your background (check out our examples for inspiration), scissors, and glue!
