Letters from the Heart

Do you have a story about Chuck Jones, his impact on your life or any other thoughts you’d like to share?

In 2000, a campaign began to submit letters telling Chuck Jones what kind of impact that he, his cartoons, his philosophies, his writings, his artwork, or anything else had had on people’s lives.

Tens of thousands of letters came in by mail and email from all around the world with stories about a vast array of influences that were experienced.

On the 20th anniversary of his passing on February 22, 2002, we are going to start the process of sharing some of those letters and once again allowing people to submit their own letters.

Chuck Jones did read every letter that was submitted and he enjoyed them immensely and was awestruck at the impact that he unknowingly and certainly unintentionally had had on so many people from all walks of life. Even though Mr. Jones himself won’t get to read each submission, the family of Chuck Jones will certainly enjoy hearing your thoughts.

please submit your own thoughts and memories if you choose to be a part of the

Dear Chuck Jones,

First off I want to thank you for your years of animation. It has been and Inspiration to me. I knew when watching your cartoons at an early age that this is what I want to do with my life. I am currently training to be in the field. Your books and videos are a constant reminder why I love animation and Why I am doing what I am doing. Your pieces of work are timeless, and will continue to be so.

Thanks again,

Just a simple note to express my gratitude for one of the world’s greatest creators of Joy and Happiness. Thank you for some of the brightest days of my life, in my future as well as in my past. If this was a piece of paper there would be many tear stains to certify and seal my heartfelt gratitude. Thankfully, I will always have an avenue to escape a bad day and the world will always have a way to remember such a Dear Man; whether you know it or not. God Bless you Dear Man.

Thanks,

Richard Vernon Dixon
